How to Solder

Project description

Ah I love the smell of burning flux in the morning it smells like soldering…..

One of the great things about designing electronics is getting to build them. While Some Makers send their projects off to CMs to get assembled, and that is a great way to alleviate a lot of the stresses of selling kits and “shields”. There are a subset of us that like the pains of assembly (@ohararp is one of us for example) and I thought I would make a little tutorial about SMD soldering.

How to Solder

Soldering Surface mount components really is easy, the key secret is lots of flux, with enough flux you can solder the tiniest components with even a large tipped soldering iron. Good Solder, Flux, and a good Iron and even the hardest of circuits can be soldered!

So without any wait I give you video tutorial in full HD showing some of the tips and tools of surface mount soldering. If you want to know how to rework electronics using a hot air station, or hand solder SMD components this is a great guide for you. I talk about using vacuum pickup tools, tweezers, soldering irons, flux and solder.

Is it that Easy?

Yes it is, just practice, practice, practice!

I hope this videos helps inspire people to get out there and explore the world of SMD electronics, it might seem overwhelming at first but dont get discouraged practice!

An in depth tutorial showing how to solder surface mount parts. Covering the tools, techniques and tips that can really help learn how to properly solder electronics! If you are new to soldering this video should have you soldering SMD components in no time!

With just a bit of pratice it becomes much easier to solder SMD then through hole soldering. As shown in the video the main key is lots of flux, but be sure to properly clean your work once you are finished soldering it.
